Recruiter spotlight: Meet Summer B!

We’re a staffing company- so we’re known for placing people in jobs at different clients we represent. But like any business, we have our own internal team of recruiters, sales representatives and corporate staff that make it all happen! Our staffing specialists though, are the bloodline of our organization! Without them, we wouldn’t be able to create the strong relationships that we are known for.

We’re proud to welcome a new Staffing Specialist to our Longmont office, and we want you to meet her- drumroll please…

Welcome, Summer Buckman! Read about her here and then give our Longmont office a call so she can help get you in a job you’ll love!

Where are you from?

I am from a small town called Lewiston, Idaho where the summers are hot, the mountains are beautiful, and the rivers are refreshing. It will always be home.

What is your favorite place you’ve lived or traveled to?

One of my favorite places I have ever lived was Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. It has beautiful country and lakes all around, there’s creativity in the air, and it’s growing into a big city! It is a place I could go back to if I wasn’t falling in love with Colorado!

Favorite TV show?

I have three favorites right now! One of them is the American version of Shameless. I love it because it is such a surreal and entertaining representation of our society today. The raw parts of this show really show that family is important and that you should never give up, and that’s the type of motivation that is meaningful to me.

The second TV show that I personally find hilarious, is Grace and Frankie on Netflix! It has just an all together captivating performance by the two stars in the series- I can’t get enough of the two funny ladies in the show and their crazy adventures!

Finally, the American Horror Story series is another favorite show of mine- something I would recommend if you are a die-hard horror fan like myself!

Favorite season of the year and why?

You would probably think since my name is Summer, my favorite season would naturally be summer, right!?

Not necessarily… there is just something special to me about a crisp breeze in the air, frosty mornings, and that oak-like aroma that comes from burning wood in a fire place. I also love when you’re hiking through the woods and you can see all the colors of the changing leaves blending together- mossy juniper greens, flaming orange and reds, and golden medallion yellows. I love it all and it just makes it the most alluring and tranquil experience called: Autumn!

Best tip for making a good impression during an interview?

Having a confident, yet still humble demeanor can be a huge help when it comes to making a good first impression!

Best tip for writing a resume?

Always double check your formatting and grammar after you are done with it, and don’t hesitate to update or modify it as you apply for different jobs!

Also, keep in mind that it’s something you made based on your previous work experience and it shows that you have a good work ethic.  It will only grow, so don’t be ashamed if you feel like you don’t have a lot of experience- just be confident in your abilities and yourself and someone will appreciate your potential!

Best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to trust yourself. With that, I believe that if you work hard enough in life for what you want, it will come to you with time-  especially if you keep taking those steps towards it. You will never be stuck in one place if you are persistent!

“The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” –Mark Twain.

Favorite ice cream flavor?

I don’t eat sweets very often but when I feel like it’s the right time to splurge, I usually dip my spoon into anything that has coconut, peach, mango, or pineapple in the mix.

If you were an animal, what type of animal would you be and why?

If I could be any animal I would probably be a raven. Ravens are one of the smartest animals on the planet, and they also actually have a sense of humor when it comes to teasing and playing with other animals. I think they are a beautifully majestic animal and they don’t get as much credit as they should!

Three celebrities you most admire and why?

One celebrity that I look up to is Malala Yousafzai. She is the youngest ever Nobel Peace Prize winner for standing up for girls in her country for the right to education. She survived physical violence for standing up for what she believes in, and I find that very admirable.

Another person that inspires me is conservationist specializing in shark ethology, named Ocean Ramsey. She is famous for her videos swimming with sharks. Her whole goal is to show people that sharks are not as ominous as people think, and that they are actually a very gracious animal. She also supports initiatives to clean the ocean so that it is a better environment for the sharks and other sea creatures.

The last person that inspires me to be a better person is Keanu Reeves. Even though he has been a huge star in life as an actor and producer, he has given back to so many organizations and charities. What’s cool though, is that he doesn’t like the publicity for it and will not confirm any of the donations he makes. He is a very humble person that worked very hard to get where he is, but he still takes the bus and lives a basic life. He seems like truly a humble and kind-hearted person.
